DIALOGUE TOUR:A WAY FOWARD ON FGM

Following the recent partnership between MIND MINERS INITIATIVE and #Endcuttinggirls project, a #UNICEF Nigeria project on #endFGM, we went to the grassroot level on 16th August 2017 to dialogue with August meeting women on the issue of FGM, we heard lots of reasons for this dangerous and inhumane act towards womanhood.
One of the reasons why our adult and baby female are lead to a dirty environment with unsterilized blade and traditional herbs to be cut is that it reduces promiscuity in women.
This unfounded and untrue reason has lead to the death of many females in the process.
Research has it that FGM can lead to bleeding, infection, lost of libido and also many other negative psychological effect like low self esteem and fear.
The rate of divorce in the society mostly has been attributed to infidelity as most men who are

married to mutilated women explore their sexual pleasure more with uncircumcised women outside their matrimonial homes.
When interviewed some men folks who falls into this category secretly confessed that they enjoy sexual relationship more with uncircumcised female as they find mutilated ones to be dry and void of sexual feelings.
The Mind Miners team launched out on a dialogue tour to Igho community in Ikeduru LGA of IMO state with the intention to dialogue with the women on dangers of FGM during the August meeting at Ikeduru Stadium
We also spoke on the need to inculcate positive values on the female child as a way to rebuild their lives.
Mrs Adesuwa Akachi, Director International Affairs graced this life changing event as she anchored and was interpreted by Ogochukwu Onyinye Executive Director Mind Miners Initiative.
We believe that with collective selfless effort, we will create an environment of our desire.
