MURDERED BY ABORTION by Nkechi Ugochukwu

Last Saturday at history makers summit Oko Polytechnic, I and my partner arrived early and had to wait outside for few hours before the commencement of the program.
We decided to wait at a salon directly opposite the school gate. While we sat down there discussing on the importance of expanding MIND MINERS INITIATIVE to Oko Polytechnic, three ladies sitting close to us became so interested that they decided to share stories of events that happened among some Oko female students. The painful thing about these stories is, they are still happening on daily basis in different Nigeria institutions.

Among the stories we were told were two abortion cases.

The first was about a 23years old lady who aborted a 5months old pregnancy but unfortunately for her, she passed out few weeks later. She was said to be decaying alive with maggots coming out of her private parts.

The second story was a girl who aborted a 7months old pregnancy but unfortunately for her, she will not be able to become pregnant again because her womb was removed.
The point is this, why were they pregnant for whole 1-4 months without the abortion? Well, there are such rare cases but why will a girl decide to endanger her life by aborting 5-7months pregnancy in this country?

Abortion is by choice and a human right, I see nothing wrong with personal choices, but Nigeria medical system is not strong for people to take some drastic decisions that can endanger their life.
Maternal mortality is a heartbroken thing and most deaths would have been prevented if the medical system is something to write home about.
There is need for radical sensitization to girls.

70% of women's problem are caused by women. Imagine the girl gone and the man that impregnated her is no where to be found.

Girls wise up!!
